Overview

LumiBud is my flagship product: a calm personal-growth companion for planning your day, building habits, studying, journaling, and managing everyday life. The product line is Plan. Grow. Become. — one workspace instead of a stack of noisy tools. Technically it’s a React SPA on Vite, backed by Supabase, with OpenAI-powered features on Vercel serverless routes, plus a separate Chrome extension for Watch & Chill sync.

The problem

App fragmentation forces people to bounce between a planner, habit tracker, journal, study app, mood diary, and more just to stay organised. Context gets lost, routines break, and the tools themselves become another source of noise. LumiBud’s answer is a gentler, less cluttered workspace that holds those activities together.

A daily workspace that feels intentional rather than demanding — where study, planning, habits, reflection, and life admin share one calm interface. Built for real life, privacy-first, free to start, with optional LumiBud Pro for advanced AI tools and study-group features.

Challenges and decisions

The hard part was scope: an all-in-one workspace can easily become a bloated suite. I had to keep deciding what belonged in the core experience versus what could wait, while still delivering enough depth that students and early-career users wouldn’t need a second app for the basics. Turning the idea into a shipped App Store product also meant owning every layer — product framing, interface decisions, and independent execution — end to end.

Unify planning, growth, and study in one product rather than shipping separate micro-apps
Design for calm density: enough capability for a full week, without dashboard theatre
Ship to the App Store as a real, installable product — not a prototype behind a waitlist
Use Supabase (Postgres, Auth, RLS, Storage, Realtime) as the data backbone so privacy rules live close to the data
Run OpenAI chat completions and utilities (link preview, image proxy) as Vercel serverless API routes
Build Watch & Chill sync as a separate Vite + React + TypeScript Chrome extension with CRXJS

Current status

LumiBud is live as an open beta on the web and available on the App Store as a free productivity app (optional LumiBud Pro). I’m continuing to refine the workspace based on real use — without inventing vanity metrics here.

What I learned

Shipping an all-in-one product taught me to protect focus: the value isn’t more features, it’s fewer context switches. Clear positioning (students and young professionals), calm interface language, and the discipline to put a real build on the App Store mattered more than polishing endless private prototypes.
