About

A short introduction.

Feran smiling, seated at a table by a window

I am Feran. I build things, write things, and ask a lot of questions.

My background is in Computer Science and Information Systems & Business Analysis, but the thing that interests me most is people and impact. I am curious about what we build, why we build it, who actually needs it, and what happens when we put it into the world.

I like bringing ideas to life. Sometimes they begin with a problem I have noticed, sometimes with something I wish existed, and sometimes someone comes to me with little more than a vision. I enjoy taking that early, messy idea and figuring out what it could become, how it should work, and how to make it real.

Technology is a big part of how I do that, but I do not believe technology should exist simply because we can build it. I care about whether something is genuinely useful, whether people actually need it, and whether it improves their lives rather than simply adding more technology to them.

My curiosity rarely stays in one place. Technology can lead me to psychology, a conversation can become an essay, and a question can send me down an entirely new path of learning. I write, act, explore ideas and sometimes learn things for no reason other than wanting to understand them.

This site is where those different parts of me meet: the things I build, the things I write, the questions I am exploring and the things I am still figuring out.

Currently based in Birmingham, UK.

How I like to work

People before technology

I care about people and impact first. Technology is a tool, and I think carefully about whether it is actually needed before deciding that it is the answer.

Think before building

I like questioning an idea before becoming attached to the solution. What is the problem? Who actually needs this? Is there a better way to solve it?

Bring the vision to life

I love the space between someone saying “I have this idea…” and being able to say “Here it is.” I enjoy working through the details, making decisions and turning something imagined into something people can actually see, use and experience.

Listen to what people tell you

An idea becomes much more interesting to me when there is evidence that people actually want or need it. Research, testing and feedback help me understand whether I am building something meaningful.
